Why Bouquet Preservation is the Perfect Wedding Gift

At Madeeco we hear so many wedding stories: of colour schemes and table settings… of unforgettable speeches… and occasionally of things that didn’t go quite to plan. The stories we like to retell, of course, are those relating to bouquet preservation and the art we create from flowers that might otherwise be fleeting.

A Groom’s Thoughtful Surprise

At the start of 2025 we received an email from a groom enquiring about bouquet preservation for his bride-to-be’s wedding flowers. We’re often contacted by brides during their wedding planning, so it was refreshing to hear from a groom – but it got better.

He wanted his new wife’s bouquet preserved and recreated into a piece of art that he could give to her as a surprise for her birthday later in the year.

They were married in late summer and, soon afterwards, the flowers arrived at the Madeeco studio, wrapped as instructed and in perfect condition for preservation. The bouquet had been created by luxury florist Moyses Stevens, so as you can imagine, the blooms were exquisite.

We honoured the timeless bouquet in a classic composition featuring blue hydrangeas, roses, and gypsophila.

The deadline of her November birthday was, fortunately, perfectly aligned with our preservation and art making process.

The secret duly kept, we despatched the finished piece as instructed, in discreet packaging.

Stories like this remind us how special the process of bouquet preservation is and what a unique way it is to capture and keep wedding-day memories.

When Friends Gift Flowers for Life

Between 2022 and 2024, we had the pleasure of preserving bouquets for three couples, all close friends, across three consecutive summers.

“I booked your service in 2022 for a friend of ours getting married, and I’m back again for another!” read the email from one bride, whose bouquet was, at that time, a work-in-progress in our studio. “I hope you can fit us in and provide a quote,” she continued. “The flowers were SO amazing!”

Another friend from the same group reached out recently to say: “I’m so glad we were able to do this for each other — it’s such a special gift to keep forever. The flowers were one of my favourite parts of our wedding, and it’s so nice to see them every day in my home.”

Three couples, each taking turns to gift bouquet preservation for the others. It’s a wonderful way for friends and family to contribute to a wedding gift that is not only unique but also carries sustainability credentials.

If you'd prefer to let the couple choose the piece that best suits them, get in touch with us about gift vouchers, which we can tailor to any amount.

From Wedding Flowers to Fine Art

Every year brings its share of inspirational wedding styling, and Moon and Jonathan’s Monet-inspired wedding (featured this year in Style Me Pretty) stood out for its philosophy of “painting in florals”. When we were asked to preserve their wedding flowers, we designed them - in honour of the bride - in the shape and hues of a full Moon.

Monet-themed wedding florals, preserved and designed to reflect the brides name, Moon.

With thanks to Jo Bradbury for capturing the day so beautifully, allowing us to draw on her images for inspiration in the creation of this work. And while we’re giving credit, much must also go to the creative artistry of The Way to Bloom, who created all of the floral work for the Monet-inspired wedding.

Preserving Your Story

If these stories have inspired you to preserve your wedding bouquet, we invite you to get in touch once your wedding date is set. At Madeeco, each commission is approached as an individual artwork, guided by a considered, artist-led process in which preservation and design are treated with equal care from beginning to end. As a result, we accept a carefully curated number of commissions each year.

If your original wedding flowers are no longer available, a bouquet recreation can also be commissioned. One bride, introduced to us by her wedding planner, came to Madeeco after her wedding and chose to have her bouquet recreated by the same florist. With time to plan and prepare, those flowers made their way to our workbench and were transformed into a unique piece of fine art.

A selection of the same blooms used in the bridal bouquet and table florals, sent to us by the florist after the wedding for preservation and design.

Whether you’re seeking a lasting reminder of your original wedding bouquet or an anniversary bouquet recreation, we’ll work with you and your flowers to create a piece designed to be lived with and cherished for years to come.
